PLATFORM 2011 Debriefing

Last Sunday (23rd March) was the Platform Expos gaming event i've been doing pieces of design work for for the past few months. In addition to getting to work a bit on the promo and organisation side of the event, I also got the opportunity to showcase my portfolio.

A last minute idea was to create a live art wall, so we rounded up a team (who I really don't think could've come together any better) and got some painting on the go!

Close up of my final paints.

My work in various stages.

Shay Hulbert's piece, never had the pleasure of meeting her before but I got a chance to see her portfolio, she has some really great work.

Luke Kendall's space dude (lookin a bit Isaac Clarke-ish)

Matt Hemsworth's "Mario Party"

L.A Jackson (he honestly rocked the entire gig with his piece)

Alan Clough aka. Snapper 52

Domanic Li

And then we fobbed off the art for a bit because everything turned Star Wars :D

Overall the whole thing was a success; the place was packed out, we got loads of attention, everyone had fun and I got to meet plenty of potential clients and future contacts. Job done.

Bring on Platform 2012!

BEA A.D & MCD

I had a space to fill in my portfolio and fancied another shot at an unofficial gig poster type of thing...so there you have it. I've been listening to a lot of the Murder City Devil's recently, mainly because the Cancer Bats did a great cover (in my opinion) of "I Want A Lot Now"which introduced me to MCD....albeit a good 10 years too late ¬_¬

I've also left my mark on Snapper 52's ongoing BEA A.D project with a character shot of BEA herself...looking like a complete bad-ass as always may I add. Short strip to follow soon :)

Skate Decks

So I got the offer of having a piece of work (possibly more) being blown up and printed at A0 to exhibit. I wanted to make it something special so I designed a range of skateboard decks (something I've wanted to do for a while). Originally there were going to be 5 as you can see from the earlier stages, but when it came to cleaning them up and adding colour in PS I realised that the drawing style for the 5th board just looked sloppy in comparison to the others. So it went, and the remaining 4 still look pretty good together :)

Here's some bonus pencil and ink sketches I did the other day too...

(Middle & Bottom Liam Cormier from Cancer Bats
Just a bit of fun, kinda reflects on music I've been working to

Espen

So ages ago I made a post about starting a comic...

I'm finally getting my ideas together on a solid storyline and some characters now, so here's some work on that.

Also, got a showcase and some live-painting happening at the Platform Expos event happening at the end of the month...so I'm desperately sticking a new portfolio together in time for that!
